New home for Mainline - January 2012

 

The start of 2012 sees Mainline relocate to a new studio and workshop in Radcliffe, Greater Manchester. Moss Mill in Rochdale has served us very well since 2007. The new studio brings new benefits however, being nearer to most of the staff and crew, and having a better loading facility and out of hours access. The new Mainline address is Unit 21 Eton Business Park, Eton Hill Road, Radcliffe, Greater Manchester M26 2ZS.

 

 

Never Mind The Baubles, Bury - December 2011

 

A new live music night saw five local bands take to the stage at Bury Town Hall with Mainline supplying full PA system, stage sound and lighting services. A very tight schedule was maintained despite the venue being used until 4pm for a kids Christmas party! A very varied lineup from newcomers to old hands rolled out original songs and faithful rock / punk covers. Good luck to the promotions team for future events.

Barclays Bank RBB VM Conference, Cheshire - November 2011

 

The 2011 annual internal event included a "Britain's Got Talent®" theme for judging competing teams on their business initiative projects. Mainline provided Martin Mac 550 intelligent lights for effect and mood lighting. Follow-spot lighting was also provided for award presentations and other effects during the event. We were pleased to provide the extra 'wow' the Barclays team was striving for, making the event far more memorable, effective and fun for the delegates.

East Lancashire Railway Halloween Event 2011

 

East Lancashire Railway developed their Halloween Special offering still further in 2011. Mainline once again provided mood and effect lighting for the spooky theme, plus PA, music and sound effects at Bury Bolton Street station platform and walkway areas. We worked closely with Railway staff in delivering a workable solution which did not interfere with operational and safety aspects of the event. One example was integrating the station announcement system into the PA system, using the Allen & Heath iLive channel side-chain feature. This automatically reduced music and sound effect volume when announcement microphones were used.

Dragon Gate Pro-Wrestling, Nottingham - October 2011

 

Mainline show provided the PA system for Dragon Gate's Nottingham show. Both load in/out and the Great Hall acoustics proved challenging at the Albert Hall. Logic System VA again showed it's versatile nature, providing ample coverage and clarity throughout the auditorium underpinned with an excellent low end for the playback music and MC microphone requirements.

David Guetta, Glasgow - April 2011

 

David Guetta brought his full production to Braehead Arena for the Colours-promoted April 2011 show. Mainline sub-contracted to The Audio Group [new window] who managed the full event sound production for Arena 2 and the Foyer, where guest DJ's played various alternative house sets. Both the Arena 2 tent and Foyer PA sound systems were provided from Logic System hire stock comprising ND218, ND315 plus 3 x VA units per side. The packed Glasgow crowd enjoyed an amazing show, with Guetta running through past & present hits in various fresh remixed formats.

Armin Van Buuren, Glasgow - April 2011

 

Colours hosted one of the first solo shows by the man voted most popular DJ in the universe, DJ/Producer Armin Van Buuren. Mainline were sub-contracted to The Audio Group [new window] who managed the event sound production. The main arena PA system comprised an L-Acoustics V-DOSC array system plus iLive digital mixing desk. Arena 2 saw a line-up of harder-edged trance DJ's providing a contrast to the main arena euphoric sound. The Arena 2 PA sound system was provided from our Logic System hire stock, comprising VA main stacks plus CA stacks for rear-fill.

Glasvegas European Tour kickoff - April 2011

 

Glasvegas kicked off their European tour in style at the Aberdeen Music Hall on 23rd April 2011. Mainline sub-contracted to The Audio Group [new window] to provide a PA sound system to supplement the existing house PA - a straightforward job, as the house PA is Logic System VA, directly compatible with our own PA hire stock. The house PA uses two vertical array hangs of 8 boxes per side, which was supplemented with ground stacks of 3VA, 2 x ND315 and ND218 per side. The requirement to split sound desks and stage boxes was met using two through-linked iLive digital mixing systems. FOH engineer Steve Pattison ran one system for Glasvegas, while we provided an iLive system and sound engineer for the support act, Strawberry Ocean Sea. A production day preceded the show day, allowing the production team plenty of time to set up and tune all systems ready for the performance.

Glasvegas album launch - April 2011

 

Glasvegas album launch was held in Glasgow City Centre, with Mainline sub-contracted to The Audio Group [new window] to supply PA and FOH services. Glasvegas formed in 2003, and have won awards from NME, XFM and UK Music Video, plus Q and Mercury award nominations. The band have toured extensively in the UK and America, and have supported major acts such as Ian Brown, U2, Kings Of Leon and Dirty Pretty Things amongst others. Just over 12 months in the making, EUPHORIC /// HEARTBREAK \\\ is Glasvegas' third album. The early 2011 tour and album launch upholds their promise to debut new material to their Scottish fans before the rest of the world. The band embark on a major UK and European tour later in April 2011.

Chron's and Colitis UK charity event - March 2011

 

Thistle Hotel Glasgow hosted a charity event in aid of Crohn's and Colitis UK (NACC) [new window]. Mainline sub-contracted to The Audio Group [new window] providing event PA and live sound engineering. Celebrity support for the event came from Scotland's own Paolo Nutini, who performed in the hotel entrance lobby. Singer and actress Alison Limerick also supported the event, taking to the main stage to perform classics from her repertoire. Excellent tribute / cover act Them Beatles headlined the main stage.

Abbamania tour - February 2011

 

Mainline sub-contracted to The Audio Group [new window] taking to the road in early 2011 for the Scottish tour leg with one of the leading ABBA tribute acts, Abbamania. The band's own PA rig was supplemented by an Allen & Heath iLive T112 / iDR48 digital mixing system for front of house and monitor mixes. Lighting used a mixture of Martin intelligent and generic fixtures supplemented by venue house lighting where available, controlled by an Avolites Pearl Titan desk and Touch Wing. Many thanks to Steve, Fish, Simon and all the band and crew for a great tour.

Allen & Heath iLive MixPad upgrade - February 2011

The latest iLive release from Allen & Heath adds yet more new features and toys. We couldn't wait to get our hands on an iPad with the new A&H MixPad app. So here it is, now available to hire from Mainline just a week after official release!

 

MixPad for Apple's iPad is a slimmed-down version of the iLive Editor PC / Mac / Linux application, and designed to supplement an iLive system with or without an iLive Editor PC in place. Pitched far above their Tweak for iPhone / iPad, this is a very powerful and versatile app. It provides an intuitive walk/talk/listen facility to adjust all aspects of the mix from wherever you need to be. Walk the venue, walk the stage setting up monitor mixes, or even walk to the venue bar with full mix control (subject to wireless network coverage, ahem). Version 1.80 of the iLive is also now compatible with MIDI-assignable controllers connected to a PC running iLive Editor. This opens up more 'hands-on' control options for mixing without a surface / desk, where there is limited budget or available space. Salsa Kingdom annual festival - January 2011

 

Liverpool's Britannia Adelphi Hotel hosted the 3rd annual 2011 Salsa Kingdom salsa festival. The intensive weekend programme comprised dance showcases, live music performances, DJ parties into the early hours, and daytime dance classes for all stages of salsa expertise. Mainline sub-contracted to The Audio Group [new window] in providing several sets of PA, lighting and DJ equipment plus video projection for the varied requirements on very tight timescale and budget limitations.
